FAQ
How do I register my player?
Register at our registration page. Before you do, sign up as a Lamorinda Rugby player with USA Rugby at xplorer.rugby. You will need your USA Rugby membership number (CIPP) to complete registration with us, and players cannot take part in our programs without it.
How are age groups decided?
Age groups are set by your player’s age on 1 September. U8 players are 7 or under on 1 September 2026, U10 players are 8 or 9, and U12 players are 10 or 11. If you would like to register for an age group that does not match their birthday, email [email protected] for an age waiver and include your player’s height and weight.
When does the season run?
The youth season runs from December 2026 to March 2027. The high school full season runs from December 2026 to May 2027. Practices are mid-week and games are at the weekend.
Where are practices?
Practices and most home games are at Wilder Field in Orinda. U8, U10, U12 and girls train on Field #1; middle school and high school train on Field #2. See Fields & Directions for every ground we use.
What does my player need to bring?
A mouthguard, club practice jersey, rugby shorts, club socks and cleats. Rugby, soccer or football cleats all work, with the toe cleat removed. Dress in layers of synthetics for training.
My child has never played rugby. Is that a problem?
Not at all. Most of our youth players start with no experience, and we welcome high school players who have never picked up a ball. Rugby is a game for all shapes and sizes: there is a position for every body type.
My high school player also plays for their school. Which season do I pick?
Players who play for their school, for example Acalanes, Bishop O’Dowd or De La Salle, should register for the Club Season, March to May. Players not playing at their school should register for the full season, December to May. USA Rugby membership transfers from the school to Lamorinda Rugby at the end of the school season at no further cost.
How does the club handle concussions and player safety?
Player wellbeing is our first priority. All our head coaches are certified by USA Rugby through Rugby NorCal, and we are one of the few clubs that keeps a certified athletic trainer on the sideline at all high school games. Parents and guardians sign a concussion awareness acknowledgement, and any player suspected of a head injury is removed from play and needs physician clearance before returning.
How can I help?
Lamorinda Rugby is run by volunteers, and the club only works because its families pitch in. Email [email protected] and we will find you something that fits.
